Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and hope you have a weekend that is full of positive experiences! Today I would like to discuss an interesting historical topic and hope you can learn something new.

Here are some pictures that I created with artificial intelligence and represent different windmills. Specifically, I would like to go into the history of the windmills in the Netherlands, which is one of the centers for mills and until a few hundred years ago, over 10,000 windmills were still in use there, which have strongly influenced the culture and economy. With the industrial revolution, the mills were demolished in most places as well as in the Netherlands, but fortunately the death of mills has not been so noticeable there and with over 1000 preserved windmills, it is the country with the most and I find it exemplary that there were so many circles behind it to cultivate this important culture. Most mills are even still operational and in the past the mills were used to process raw materials, drain the land or create fertile soil. The field of application was extremely diverse and there were mills to process grain, spice mills, sawmills, mustard mills as well as more unknown ones such as paper mills, oil, chalk or dye mills. Often some of these kinds of mills have been forgotten and especially dye mills were important to process pigments for the production of colors into powder and in the northern part of the Netherlands were most of the dye mills.

The first wind-powered mills in Europe were built between the 12th and the 16th Century and in 14th century, the polder mills were built in the Netherlands, which were known for this and were intended to drain the soil. The typical Dutch windmills are a further development of this kind and were created in the 16th century and due to the compact design with different floors, there was plenty of space to set up machines that were essential for the work. There were different types of typical Dutch windmills and in general it can be said that from the Middle Ages until 20. Century, the technology of the mills has continued to develop. Some of the mills in the Netherlands have been converted into museums or hotels and are also often under monument protection and have become an important attraction. The history of the mills can be traced back to over 20000 years and if you should be more interested in the topic,

are some contributions from me.
