It is the classic way of plastering. We might make the compound less thick to keep some of the imperfections of the brick wall visible to achieve a more organic feel.

Smooth render test. Before the plaster dries a final coat of cement mixed with plaster is applied to make the walls more smooth. Beyond aesthetics this will reduce the amount of dust in the room.
