The Housemaid Series || Four Dark Delights

This may just be a personal record for me, because I think it’s just been about two days since I made my review about the book I’d read. At the time, I thought it merely had a sequel, but turns out there were three other parts, and I was already heavily impressed by the first book in this series, so I went on a little binge of the last three books in the series. And here, we are.
Housemaid 2: The Housemaid’s Secret

Millie feels like she has the perfect job, at least as perfect as someone with a criminal record can have, which is a cleaning job. She just started school again, and believes that with her new job, she can finally afford a comfortable life, and possibly a drama-free one. But then, her employer, who’s somewhat of an absentee mom terminates her job because her little daughter keeps calling Millie “Mama.”

Milly is back to square one, placing job ads online, and worrying about how she’s going to survive the next couple of months, but then she gets a job to work for a billionaire named Garricks, and as she steps into the penthouse, marvelling at how ostentatious everywhere looks, there’s an ominous feeling in the air. Millie is in danger. She just doesn’t know it yet.
Housemaid 2.5: The Housemaid’s Wedding

This is a rather short one that spans the day of Millie’s wedding to the love of her life. The only man that has stood by her, and understands her more than any other person. Today is supposed to be their special day, but Millie wakes up to a threatening call.
Because of the kind of “assistance” she offered People in the past, let’s just say that she has garnered a few enemies, and now one of these enemies is threatening to end her life on her special day. On other days, she’d immediately tell her fiancé of the looming threat, but Millie is poised to take matters into her own hands.
Housemaid 3: The Housemaid is Watching

It’s been over a decade, and Millie may have finally achieved the normal and ordinary life she’s always craved for, and this time she’s not alone. The love of her life is with her, and her two beautiful children, as well. They’ve scraped out nearly the last of their earnings to purchase a house in Long Island, and even though they may have rather off-putting neighbour, Millie is sure they made the right decision. Somewhat.
But things begin to go south when her youngest who is usually a good sport becomes rather aggressive, her eldest more withdrawn, and her husband, most of all, seems to be hiding something from her. Something that just might destroy their marriage and alter the normalcy she had already become used to.
My Thoughts and Rating
I really do not have too much to say. Sarah McFadden is whoever she says she is. Her writing is impeccable, and not filled with too many unanswered questions. I will say, in all honesty, that the first book in the series may just have been my best in terms of intrigue, twists, and everything else. As you keep reading, you kind of get used to her style of writing, so I believe it takes some of the novelty away.
Either way, I’m super grateful to my friend who made me read this series. It was a thrill, through and through. I know I did say I may just be done with thrillers for a while, and ended up still reading these, but I do mean it this time. Hopefully. 8/10 from me on an average for the four books. Would totally recommend to my Bibliophiles who enjoy good thrillers with even more scintillating twists.
