The Hebrew hammers have been deployed to nail the Mullahs

(NB: For the benefit of my many Israeli readers an electronic translation of this piece into Hebrew is pasted below)

I awoke this morning to the news that the Israeli military had pulled off yet another stunning attack on Iran, a nation that is not just the enemy of Israel but of the West in general and the long suffering people of Iran itself. This ongoing action by the Israelis appears to be a gobsmackingly effective attack on Iran’s senior military officers, the leadership of the Iranian ‘Revolutionary Guard Council’ and Iran’s nuclear facilities.

As this is an unfolding story I doubt very much that we’ve heard all that the Israelis have managed to achieve but from what I’ve heard so far it’s either on a par with Israel’s use of booby trapped pagers to take out Hezbollah operatives in what has been called by various wags ‘Operation Beep Beep Boom’ or far more wide ranging and effective. So far some of the stuff that I’ve heard is amazing and ranges from Israeli Air Force aircraft bombing the entrances to the tunnels that lead to Iran’s nuclear factories, amazingly well targeted missile attacks on senior Iranian government figures and most impressive, the setting up by Israel of a covert drone attack unit inside Iran itself.

It is to be hoped that the attack by the Israelis goes a long way to cripple Iran’s ability to wage war against not just Israel but other nations in the region. As expected the Iranians have made a counter attack against Israel with UAV’s but from some of the reports I’ve seen it has not been successful with all the 100 UAVs launched by Iran against Israel intercepted and destroyed by Israel before they could do any damage.

Politically there’s been the usual noises from Middle Eastern nations condemning Israel for the attack but this might only be for public consumption as many of these nations are also threatened by Iran and they may privately welcome this hit against Iran. The UK Prime Minister has, as expected made a statement that shames both himself and his nation by condemning Israel’s action against Iran. Sir Keir Starmer’s weasel words were probably written for him by the Arabist leaning Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and might well have also been intended by Starmer to placate the more volatile of Britain’s Moslems who control the communal vote banks that Labour need to be able to hold on to certain Parliamentary seats.

This has been yet another stunning and audacious attack by Israel on an Iranian regime that has been a regional driver of war and terrorism for well over forty years. I say well done to the Israeli Defence Forces and Am Yisrael Chai.

התעוררתי הבוקר לחדשות שהצבא הישראלי ביצע עוד מתקפה מדהימה על איראן, מדינה שאינה רק אויבת ישראל אלא גם אויבת המערב בכלל ואויבת איראן עצמה הסובלת זמן רב. הפעולה המתמשכת הזו של הישראלים נראית כהתקפה יעילה להפליא על קציני הצבא הבכירים של איראן, על הנהגת "מועצת משמרות המהפכה" האיראנית ועל מתקני הגרעין של איראן. מכיוון שזהו סיפור שמתפתח, אני בספק רב אם שמענו את כל מה שהישראלים הצליחו להשיג, אך ממה ששמעתי עד כה, זה או שווה ערך לשימוש של ישראל במכשירי ביפר ממולכדים כדי לחסל פעילי חיזבאללה במה שכונה על ידי פעילים שונים "מבצע ביפ ביפ בום" או הרבה יותר רחב ויעיל. עד כה, חלק מהדברים ששמעתי מדהימים, החל ממטוסי חיל האוויר הישראלי שהפציצו את הכניסות למנהרות המובילות למפעלי הגרעין של איראן, דרך התקפות טילים ממוקדות להפליא על בכירים בממשלה האיראנית, והכי מרשים, הקמת יחידת תקיפה חשאית של רחפנים בתוך איראן עצמה על ידי ישראל. יש לקוות שהמתקפה של הישראלים תפגע רבות ביכולתה של איראן לנהל מלחמה לא רק נגד ישראל אלא גם נגד מדינות אחרות באזור. כצפוי, האיראנים ביצעו מתקפת נגד נגד ישראל באמצעות כטב"מים, אך מכמה דיווחים שראיתי, היא לא צלחה, כאשר כל 100 הכטב"מים ששיגרה איראן נגד ישראל יורטו והושמדו על ידי ישראל לפני שהספיקו לגרום נזק כלשהו. מבחינה פוליטית, נשמעו הרעשים הרגילים מצד מדינות המזרח התיכון המגנות את ישראל על המתקפה, אך ייתכן שזה רק לצריכה ציבורית, שכן רבות מהמדינות הללו מאוימות גם על ידי איראן, והן עשויות לקבל בברכה באופן פרטי את הפגיעה הזו נגד איראן. ראש ממשלת בריטניה, כצפוי, פרסם הצהרה המביישה את עצמו ואת ארצו בכך שהוא מגנה את פעולות ישראל נגד איראן. דבריו הבוטים של סר קיר סטארמר נכתבו כנראה עבורו על ידי משרד החוץ, חבר העמים והפיתוח בעל הנטייה הערבית, וייתכן שסטארמר גם התכוון לפייס את המוסלמים הבריטיים הנפיצים יותר, השולטים בבנקי הקולות הקהילתיים שמפלגת הלייבור צריכה כדי שתוכל להחזיק במושבים מסוימים בפרלמנט. זוהי עוד התקפה מדהימה ונועזת מצד ישראל על משטר איראני שהיה גורם אזורי מניע של מלחמה וטרור במשך למעלה מארבעים שנה. אני אומר כל הכבוד לצבא ההגנה הישראלי ולעם ישראל חי.
