A rainy Wednesday stroll along Viale Adua, an avenue I love and my husband hates/Un paseo un miércoles lluvioso por Viale Adua, una avenida que me encanta y mi marido odia.

Good evening, blog friends, what's the weather like in your area? It's pouring with rain here tonight, and it had already started drizzling this morning, but I didn't give up on my walk, and much to my husband's chagrin, he had to accompany me. I took my stroll down Viale Adua, this beautiful, semi-tree-lined avenue is one of Pistoia's main thoroughfares, leading to all the other streets in the city.

It connects southern Pistoia with all the other neighborhoods. It's quite a long avenue, but it can be covered in about twenty minutes of brisk walking. The problem, and the reason I love this avenue and my husband doesn't, is that it's full of shops and businesses, especially some where I always stop and that my husband can't stand, like the lingerie and stockings shop, a large Chinese mall with everything, a women's makeup and accessories store, and a pet food store. Well, we know, many men have a hard time with shopping, but my husband can't stand walking here with me because he says I make too many unnecessary stops, I look at everything and don't buy anything. Anyway, besides being a hub, this is one of the busiest avenues in the city. There's always a constant coming and going of cars and people, something else my antisocial husband can't stand. Anyway, he made the sacrifice and accompanied me, and that's already a lot!

Buenas noches, amigos del blog, ¿qué tiempo hace por vuestra zona? Llueve a cántaros esta noche y ya había empezado a lloviznar esta mañana, pero no desistí de caminar y, para disgusto de mi marido, tuvo que acompañarme. Di un paseo por Viale Adua, esta preciosa avenida semiarbolada es una de las principales arterias de Pistoia y da acceso a todas las demás calles de la ciudad. Conecta el sur de Pistoia con el resto de barrios. Es una avenida bastante larga, pero se puede recorrer en unos veinte minutos de caminata rápida. El problema, y la razón por la que a mí me encanta esta avenida y a mi marido no, es que está llena de tiendas y negocios, sobre todo algunos en los que siempre me detengo y que mi marido no soporta, como la tienda de lencería y medias, un enorme centro comercial chino con de todo, una tienda de maquillaje y accesorios para mujer, y una tienda de comida para mascotas. Bueno, ya sabemos que a muchos hombres les cuesta ir de compras, pero mi marido no soporta caminar aquí conmigo porque dice que hago demasiadas paradas innecesarias, que miro todo y no compro nada.

En fin, además de ser un centro neurálgico, esta es una de las avenidas más concurridas de la ciudad. Siempre hay un ir y venir constante de coches y gente, algo que mi marido, que es antisocial, no soporta. En fin, hizo el sacrificio de acompañarme, ¡y eso ya es mucho!

I, on the other hand, like walking along the avenue. I like observing the modern buildings, the large palaces (for many of you accustomed to big cities, they're not, but for me, living in a small town, these buildings seem large and modern), the new gray supermarket, the charming little houses of the residents, all well-kept and in light colors, the surveyors' school, which is a huge concrete building that looks like it was made of concrete blocks (I think the architect was on LSD), the sections of tree-lined avenue where in full autumn the trees have magnificent colors and fill the street with leaves, the large parking lots of the various businesses, and then yes, the shops, I like the shops too. In short, for me it was a nice walk; my husband a little less so, but marriage is also about making a compromise, right? 🤣

A mí, en cambio, me gusta pasear por la avenida. Me gusta observar los edificios modernos, los grandes palacios (para muchos de vosotros, acostumbrados a las grandes ciudades, no lo son, pero a mí, viviendo en un pueblo pequeño, me parecen grandes y modernos), el nuevo supermercado gris, las encantadoras casitas de los vecinos, todas bien cuidadas y de colores claros, la escuela de agrimensores, un enorme edificio de hormigón que parece de bloques de hormigón (creo que el arquitecto estaba drogado con LSD), los tramos de avenida arbolada donde, en pleno otoño, los árboles tienen colores magníficos y llenan la calle de hojas, los amplios aparcamientos de los diversos negocios, y luego sí, las tiendas, que también me gustan. En resumen, para mí fue un paseo agradable; para mi marido un poco menos, pero el matrimonio también se trata de llegar a un acuerdo, ¿no? 🤣
