Dover Travel Delays... Defo Caused by Brexit...

On the final leg of my trip back to the UK last week I drove past 15 miles of traffic cones on the other side of the M20, put there to manage the anticipated summer queues of tourists heading to France with the start of the school holidays...

Sure enough, last weekend saw travel chaos, with would-be holiday makers being stuck in Dover queues for up to 6 hours, with some of them having to use the hard shoulder as urinals (although the later is really only moral panic headlines from trash newspapers).

Tory Scum Liz Truss (one has to call it like it is) tried to deflect the blame for the delays onto the French failing to put adequate numbers of staff on their side of the border controls.

However, this is blatantly a lie - for starters, it's just a fact that the French aren't to blame for Brexit.

Secondly, a simple statistical time-based analysis demonstrates it's the Brexit-effect that's caused the delays...

Now that Dover is an EU border and Britain is not part of the EU (Literally caused by Brexit, the definition of which is Britain leaving the EU) the French authorities are legally obliged to check and stamp the passports of ever single passenger moving through Dover.

According to the expert below, even when all the French booths were fully manned, there were still queues because it was taking 45 minutes to check the passports of couple-cars and just over a minute to check a family of four's passports...

Before Brexit these people would have just been waived through, no checks!

FINALLY, the bare travel stats actually show that things weren't even as busy this week compared to a comparable time pre-Brexit (when Dover was working just fine, busy but not jammed)....

According to the Guardian article above there were 12000 vehicles moving through Dover last weekend compared to the norm of 2500 -five times more than this time last year (2021) - but if you look at the

pre-Brexit we are no where near five times what happened last year, suggesting we are short of 'normal' just with 6 hour delays, and the only thing which has changed is... Brexit!

Made worse by sheer Tory arrogance...

These passengers have suffered directly at the hands of incompetent Tory policies - the port of Dover requested over a year ago for funding to install more booths to check passports, they were refused!

This is the mentality of these Tory Scum - freedom without responsibility, failure to even put in place basic funding to ameliorate the suffering their Brexiteer agenda has caused.

In conclusion...

Despite the Tory's inability to take responsibility for causing this chaos, it's difficult to find an example of a problem that is LITERALLY and DIRECTLY CAUSED by Brexit, this is it.

And it's another example of how the Tories just lie and lie and lie.
