Turning Corner

It seems we are about at that time of year where we are either headed into some really great gains in price, or are going to end up circling the drain again for another year. I hope the former, but it tends to always be driven by some kind of global catalyst, and there are many on the cards at the moment. My money is on some kind of end to the war in Ukraine - but that might be a long shot.

Putin be crazy!

That aside, we are entering into a turning point of sorts though, as the world descends ever more rapidly into the abyss that society is quickly becoming. None of the systems that we have relied upon to keep us somewhat advancing as a species, are made to manage the kind of unrest we are seeing now, so I suspect that at the very least, there will be an attempt to artificially try and right the sinking ship. It seems that the likely candidate for the economy is to pump as much inflation into military spending as possible and then use that as the justification as to why they could end some of the various conflicts, to try and abate the hyper-restless populations.

But it won't be enough.

Because the restless populations have now got a taste for the drama and attention, and will continue their attention-seeking behaviours. And the best way to get attention is create more drama, more polarised marches, more violence, more hate and vitriol. You know the drill, the stuff the media can latch onto and amplify for more clicks. Fuck reality, fuck what is best for society - as long as some adverts are sold for products that no one needs.

But the markets don't care about reality, they care about sentiment. Feelings. All those numbers, and what success comes down to is whether investors got up on the right or wrong side of bed. If the average person got over their feelings and looked at the current state of affairs objectively, then we wouldn't be in half of these messes we are in now, because people would realise that they are engineered to take advantage of them.

The first rule of Wake up Club:

  1. The government doesn't give a fuck about your wellbeing.

Yet, here you are fighting for left or right, red or white, fight or flight. Like a fucking pawn that backs the monarchy because the Queen has a nice smile. Ready to die for an ideological dream that is so fundamentally flawed, it has zero chance of working, but it makes you feel like you are part of something bigger. And you are. A fucking machine designed to press all the possible value out of you. The economy as we know it is a juice press, and you are a fucking orange.

Not you of course. You are too smart to be juiced as an orange.

Right.

How do you feel about the current state of the world? What are your thoughts on Russia and Ukraine, Gaza, the Charlie Kirk assassination, Trump politics, the second amendment, abortion, immigrants in your country...?

Orange.

It is all just noise to take attention away from the things that actually matter, and the actions that are taking place to squeeze more juice from your quickly drying skin. It is the carnival to distract you, while the pickpocket takes everything that is actually valuable and leaves you with magic beans. Except there is no beanstalk to a castle in the clouds filled with gold - just a giant to throttle you to squeeze a little more from your bones.

But hey, in the meantime it might be possible that there is a decent pump on crypto, so all will be well. Or maybe there won't be, and then rather than a sliver of happiness for a brief moment of time, it will just be more misery.

Corner, after corner, after corner.
