President Lee presided over a Cabinet meeting held at the presidential office in Yongsan on the 11th and said, "Among the objections to the incentive system for long-term investment, there is a counterargument that major shareholders benefit from it in the end. We need to separate (general investors and major shareholders)," adding, "Please make a detailed way of giving benefits."
He then asked Deputy Prime Minister and Strategy and Finance Minister Koo Yoon-chul, "Do we have enough tax incentives for long-term investments?" and Deputy Prime Minister Koo replied, "It is not enough. We will try to change it into something that gives a lot of incentives if we make long-term investments."
In response, President Lee said, "Don't major shareholders originally have it to secure management rights?" but added, "If you do it, there could be a controversy over tax cuts for the rich."
