In the crypto world, Hive is the only chain I really care about: it's here that I found an environment where I could grow, learn, and build friendships. Almost everything I own is on this chain and, if I’m going to dream, it’s on Hive that I’d like to one day find myself with a nice little treasure stashed away. However, my journey into the world of cryptocurrencies started elsewhere and, even though I ultimately chose Hive, the experiences I had before still taught me something—like the importance of **diversifying your investment**. In the past, as I already wrote [in this post](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-not-your-keys-not-your-money-a-lesson-learned-the-hard-way-5nd), I ended up losing everything I had saved up because I had decided to keep all my eggs in one basket… and when that basket fell, well, goodbye eggs. That’s why, even though my full attention is on Hive, over time I’ve still tried to set aside small amounts on other blockchains as well, focusing in particular on a few cryptocurrencies not so much because I believe each one has the potential to do wonders, but rather because they are solid coins—*some more than others*—that over the years have generally maintained a decent value. My choices, in particular, have fallen on these four: BTC, ETH, BNB, and SOL.
## Why these four? ![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/arc7icwolf/EoeEsS9ef7w3dYPF7HhKRAXj7AF6jtRNwoBqKvpu2skz54H2LkvdKe2xa9vytihPY7j.jpg) The answer is very simple: they are among the four most well-known and capitalized cryptocurrencies in the world, so they were among the first I heard about and the first I accumulated small amounts of, which have (somewhat) grown over time. *** For **BTC** I’ve set up an accumulation plan where I buy about 10 dollars worth of BTC (actually WBTC) every 30 days, which I then keep on Polygon, as I’ve already explained [in this other post](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-a-fraction-of-a-bitcoin-is-better-than-no-bitcoin-at-all-feb). Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies, the first and most famous, so from the beginning I couldn’t help but want to own at least a small piece of it. *** **ETH**, on the other hand, is for me the symbolic cryptocurrency of the DeFi world: when I arrived in 2021, DeFi was on everyone’s lips, and over time many layer 2 networks were born that use wrapped versions of Ethereum to pay network fees, like Arbitrum and Optimism. In my mind, I always think that if one of these layer 2s were to take off, it would help increase the value of ETH, and for me, that makes it worth holding a bit. *** **BNB** is the only cryptocurrency I still hold on a centralized exchange, which I’m planning to close soon so I can finally move to fully managing all my assets myself. BNB is a token I hold because it’s tied to the success of Binance and, since the latter is by far the largest and best-known exchange in the world… well, owning a bit of its token seems like another bet that might be worth taking. Once I close my account on that exchange, I’ll move my BNB to the Binance Smart Chain, where I hope to find some interesting pools to put it to work. *** Lastly, **SOL**, a cryptocurrency that gets a lot of criticism, both for being seen as very centralized and for the ridiculous number of meme tokens that have popped up on this chain. Personally, I hold SOL because transactions on Solana are so cheap they’re practically free, and because Solana seems like a great environment—though less than Hive—for developing video games, a field I’m always very interested in.
## But is this financial advice? I usually don’t bother saying it, because the answer seems obvious... ...but maybe this post is more misleading than others, so I’d better clarify that **THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE!** This is just my opinion, which is based on little more than nothing: to give you an idea, among the reasons I hold ETH and SOL is that I like the words **Ethereum** and **Solana**, so if you’re looking for a post to tell you where to invest your money… look elsewhere! 😅 But if you were curious about how I (poorly) invest my small funds outside of Hive, well then, you were in the right place!

Nel mondo cripto Hive è praticamente il mio unico interesse: è qui che ho trovato un ambiente in cui crescere, imparare e stringere amicizie. Quasi tutto ciò che possiedo si trova su questa chain e, se devo sognare, è su Hive che vorrei, un giorno, ritrovarmi con un bel tesoretto da parte. La mia avventura nel mondo delle criptovalute è però partita altrove e, anche se alla fine la mia scelta è ricaduta su Hive, le esperienze che ho fatto prima mi hanno comunque insegnato qualcosa, come l'importanza di **diversificare il proprio investimento**. In passato, come ho già scritto [in questo post](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-not-your-keys-not-your-money-a-lesson-learned-the-hard-way-5nd), mi sono ritrovato a perdere tutto ciò che avevo messo da parte perchè avevo deciso di tenere tutte le mie uova in un solo paniere... e quando questo è caduto, be', addio uova. Per questo, anche se la mia attenzione è tutta rivolta ad Hive, nel tempo ho cercato comunque di mettere da parte delle piccole somme anche su altre blockchain, focalizzandomi in particolare su alcune criptovalute non tanto perchè creda che ciascuna di esse abbia il potenziale per fare chissà che, quanto perchè sono criptovalute solide - *anche se alcune più di altre* - che nel corso degli anni hanno tendenzialmente mantenuto un buon valore. La mia scelta, in particolare, è ricaduta sulle seguenti 4: BTC, ETH , BNB e SOL.
## Perchè queste 4? ![](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/arc7icwolf/EoeEsS9ef7w3dYPF7HhKRAXj7AF6jtRNwoBqKvpu2skz54H2LkvdKe2xa9vytihPY7j.jpg) La risposta è molto facile: sono tra le quattro criptovalute più famose e capitalizzate al mondo, per cui sono fra le prime che ho conosciuto e le prime di cui ho accumulato piccoli importi, che nel tempo sono (un po') cresciuti. *** Per **BTC** ho in atto un piano di accumulo che mi porta ogni 30 giorni circa ad acquistare 10 dollari in BTC (WBTC, in realtà), che poi conservo su Polygon, come ho già raccontato [in quest'altro post](https://peakd.com/hive-146620/@arc7icwolf/engita-a-fraction-of-a-bitcoin-is-better-than-no-bitcoin-at-all-feb). Bitcoin è il re delle criptovalute, la prima e più famosa, per cui sin dall'inizio non ho potuto fare a meno di desiderarne di possederne almeno una piccola quantità. *** **ETH** è invece la criptovaluta simbolo, almeno per me, del mondo della DeFi: quando sono arrivato nel 2021 la DeFi era sulla bocca di tutti e nel tempo sono nati tanti layer 2 che utilizzano versioni wrapped di Ethereum per pagare le commissioni di rete, come Arbitrum ed Optimism. Nella mia testa, perciò, penso sempre che se uno di questi layer 2 dovesse avere successo contribuirebbe a far aumentare il valore di ETH e, per me, vale quindi la pena possederne un po'. *** **BNB** è invece l'unica criptovaluta che possiedo su un exchange centralizzato, che vorrei chiudere a breve per passare una volta e per tutte ad una gestione autonoma di tutti i miei assets. BNB è un token che possiedo perchè è collegato al successo di Binance e dato che quest'ultimo è di gran lunga l'exchange più grande e conosciuto al mondo... be', possedere un po' del suo token sembra un'altra scommessa che può valere la pena fare. Una volta chiuso il mio account su questo exchange sposterò i miei BMB sulla Binance Smart Chain, dove spero di trovare qualche pool interessante in cui metterli a produrre interessi. *** Per finire, **SOL**, una criptovaluta da molti criticata, sia perchè ritenuta molto centralizzata, sia per la miriade di ridicoli meme token che sono nati su questa chain. Personalmente possiedo SOL perchè le transazioni su Solana costano talmente poco da essere quasi gratuite e perchè Solana appare come un ambiente ottimale, anche se meno di Hive, per lo sviluppo di videogiochi, un settore che mi interessa sempre molto.
## Ma questi sono consigli finanziari? Di solito non sto mai a precisarlo, perchè la risposta mi pare ovvia... ... ma questo post forse è più fraintendibile di altri, per cui sarà meglio precisare che **QUESTI NON SOLO ASSOLUTAMENTE CONSIGLI FINANZIARI!** Si tratta solo della mia opinione, che è basata su poco più del nulla: per darvi un'idea, fra i motivi per cui possiedo ETH e SOL c'è anche che mi piacciono le parole **Ethereum** e **Solana**, per cui se cercate un post che vi dia consigli su dove investire i vostri soldi... cercate altrove! 😅 Se invece eravate curiosi di sapere come investo (male) i miei pochi soldi al di fuori di Hive, ecco, allora eravate nel posto giusto!
