Hey there, Hive!✨

Returning to Hive feels good, even more so knowing that academically I already have a degree in psychology, and now I'm just waiting to receive my degree and attend the long-awaited graduation ceremony. Although after seven years of waiting, these last six months, which flew by, may have been my favorite semester, because after all the effort and dedication, I finally achieved my goal. This semester began with the internship I probably had the most respect for (even fear of), the internship in clinical psychology. This, for me, is the most demanding area of my career, where you put absolutely all your knowledge into practice. Of course, having patients is an enormous responsibility that you must keep in mind. You must assume the role of a professional with all the necessary ethics and morals, trying to master all the theories to understand a human soul, while also being another human soul. Despite my nerves, I think they completely dissipated after the first day, as the institute staff and our tutor welcomed us with open arms. They were all very sweet and kind at all times, attentive to any need we had, attentive to our patients, and making us feel welcome from the very beginning. Receiving so much support was so lovely. I was also able to spend a lot of time with two of my friends, whom I truly love. The three of us helped each other understand cases, coordinate schedules, laugh, de-stress, and get lost in places unfamiliar to us. This last point was because the psychology department (mainly the social psychologists) invited us to several service days in vulnerable areas, so we went to distant places we'd never been before. Of course, I can't help but mention that the patients I treated truly tested me. While the process flowed smoothly with some, it was more uneven with others. I also had to try to help people who were going through very difficult times in their lives, so I tried to be the best help I could, while also maintaining my own process. I must admit that at first, I thought clinical practice wasn't for me. Now I can better see how interesting it is and how satisfying it is to see a patient gradually improving, someone who is grateful for your help, those who managed to overcome a complicated situation, or who came to understand themselves a little better. After many reports, readings, familiar and new techniques, complex cases and others that were not so complex, I can say that I quite like it and that I'm not completely closed to this area of psychology, but my passion still lies elsewhere. During this semester, I also took a course that encouraged critical thinking. I really enjoyed it and learned many new things, but at this point in my studies, any subject already felt boring. I wanted it all to be over, so going to university on Mondays just to listen to a professor for two hours wasn't something I was really looking forward to. I also participated in a degree anniversary activity for the first time, and it was a moment to enjoy time with friends I barely saw because I was in different internships. And to close with the cherry on top, last week I presented my Special Degree Project. What they commonly call a thesis, although in undergraduate studies it's not really that. You know what they usually say about "enjoying the moment"? Well, that's a lie; in that moment you don't enjoy anything😅; you're just on edge, focused on doing well. In my case, I was overcome with nerves, and in the middle of the presentation, my throat went completely dry. I had to take several breaks to drink water, trying to clear my throat, but I still had to force my voice and it kept cracking. But I managed to do it, and in the end, we got the highest grade, with a mention of publication. There's nothing better than taking all the academic weight off your shoulders and knowing that you're finally free. Also, I must admit that I like the methodology and that having done my work in organizational psychology, an area I'm passionate about, was the best decision I could have made. I love my investigation project and what I was able to achieve with my partner. That day, I really appreciated the support of my family and friends, especially my two best friends @kiutvariedades and @eldiariodelys, who have been there for me since the second semester and have encouraged me every step of the way💙. I also went to see them in their presentation, which of course was incredible (you can't expect anything less from them), as well as the defenses of the other two members of our little group. @omarqm, the good friend who gave me the university, also did an incredible job, and I must thank him for his support throughout everything💙. So, last week was full of emotions and much success, since it's all over now. Volver a Hive se siente bien, más aún sabiendo que académicamente ya soy licenciada en psicología, quedando solo a la espera de recibir mi título y tener el tan esperado acto de graduación. Aunque después de siete años esperando estos últimos seis meses que pasaron volando, puede que haya sido mi semestre favorito pues después de todo el esfuerzo y dedicación, por fin logré la meta. Puesto que este semestre comenzó con la pasantía a la que probablemente le tenía más respeto (incluso miedo), la pasantía en psicología Clínica. Esta para mí es el área de mi carrera más exigente, con la cual pones en práctica absolutamente todo el conocimiento y por supuesto, tener pacientes es una responsabilidad enorme que debes tener muy presente. Debes asumir el rol del profesional con toda la ética y moral necesarias, intentando manejar todas las teorías para comprender a un alma humana, siendo a la vez otra alma humana más. A pesar de los nervios, creo que después del primer día estos se disiparon completamente, puesto que las trabajadoras del instituto y nuestra tutora nos recibieron con los brazos abiertos. Todas fueron muy dulces y amables en todo momento, atentas a cualquier cosa que necesitáramos, pendientes de nuestros pacientes y de que nos sintiéramos bienvenidas desde el primer momento. Recibir tanto apoyo fue muy bonito. También pude compartir mucho con dos de mis amigas a quienes realmente quiero un montón. Entre las tres nos ayudábamos a comprender algún caso, cuadrar horarios, reírnos, desestresarnos y perdernos por sitios desconocidos para nosotras. Esto último porque desde el departamento de psicología (principalmente las psicólogas sociales) nos invitaron a varias jornadas de servicio en zonas vulnerables, por lo que fuimos a sitios lejanos a los que nunca habíamos ido. Claro, no puedo dejar de mencionar que los pacientes que atendí realmente me pusieron a prueba. Mientras que con algunos el proceso fluyó tranquilamente, con otros fue más irregular, además de tener que intentar ayudar a personas que estaban en momentos muy difíciles en sus vidas, por lo que intenté ser la mejor ayuda posible, aunque manteniendo mi propio proceso también. Debo admitir que al principio, pensaba que la Clínica no era lo mío, ahora puedo ver mejor lo interesante que es y lo satisfactorio que es ver a un paciente que mejora poco a poco, a aquel que te agradece la ayuda, aquellos que lograron superar una situación complicada o que consiguieron entenderse un poco mejor a sí mismos. Después de muchos informes, lectura, técnicas conocidas y las nuevas, casos complejos y otros que no tanto, puedo decir que me gusta bastante y que no me cierro completamente a esta área de la psicología, pero mi pasión sigue estando en otra parte. Durante este semestre también vi una materia que fomentaba el pensamiento crítico. La disfruté bastante y aprendí muchas cosas nuevas, pero a este punto de la carrera la verdad cualquier materia ya se sentía pesada. Ya quería que todo terminara, así que ir los lunes a la universidad solo a escuchar a un profesor por dos horas no era algo que realmente me apetecía. También participé en una actividad del aniversario de la carrera por primera vez y fue un momento para disfrutar con esos amigos que casi no veía por estar en espacios de pasantía diferentes. Y para cerrar con broche de oro, la semana pasada presenté mi Trabajo Especial de Grado. Lo que comunmente llaman la tesis, aunque en pregrado no es realmente eso. ¿Saben lo que usualmente dicen sobre «disfrutar el momento»? Pues es una mentira, en ese momento no disfrutas nada😂, solamente estás con los nervios de punta, enfocada en hacerlo bien. En mi caso, fui presa de mis nervios y en medio de la presentación se me secó la garganta por completo. Tuve que hacer varias pausas para tomar agua, intentando aclarar la garganta, pero igual tenía que forzar la voz y se me quebraba. Pero logré hacerlo y al final, obtuvimos la nota más alta, con mención publicación. No hay nada mejor que quitarte todo el peso académico de encima y saber que finalmente eres libre. Además, debo admitir que me gusta la metodología y que haber hecho mi trabajo en psicología organizacional, esa área que me apasiona, fue la mejor decisión que pude tomar. Ese día aprecié muchísimo el apoyo de mis familiares y mis amigos, especialmente el de mis dos mejores amigas @kiutvariedades y @eldiariodelys, quienes han estado allí desde el segundo semestre y me han animado en cada momento de la carrera💙. También fui a verlas en su presentación que por supuesto fue increíble (no se puede esperar menos de ellas), así como fui a las defensas de los otros dos miembros del grupito. @omarqm , el bonito amigo que me regaló la universidad también lo hizo increíble y debo agradecerle también su apoyo en todo💙. Así que la semana pasada estuvo cargada de emociones y mucho éxito, puesto que ya todo culminó.
