Hiii, Sketchbook Community! I hope you are doing great today, what’s up? 💙✨ ㅤ A couple days ago, I uploaded the post of my mascot: Estelita. But, to be honest, I was sad that I didn't draw a background for her... It looked so empty. ㅤ So I gave myself the task of trying to draw a nice and matching background, and that's why you will accompany me in the process, here we go!

And automatically my brain thought of watermelons… Because I LOVE watermelons. So I started to draw a watermelon, this time without sketches or anything, just pure hope that everything would turn out well. ㅤ Drawing that arc was more difficult than it seems, it was either too curved or too straight, I wasn't satisfied with any of the lines hahaha. Until I managed to make it at least have a watermelon shape.

And now we paint, paint, paint it red. This brush looks great, because the coloring looks a bit like the actual texture of a watermelon.

Then here I drew the watermelon rind, which is green. It was just a line following the direction of the arc. And it already looks like a watermelon… How simple they are (but very tasty).

The watermelon drawing is done, now comes the part that is the most fun to me. ㅤ I close the Sketchbook app and go to Canva, where I choose a new design and open the "Instagram post" format. I only used this option because I like that the images are square, but it could be in any format. (Like the cover, which I used a "YouTube thumbnail" format, because it's elongated and feels better for covers).

And what follows here is what's fun to me. Simply, what I do is upload the image of the watermelon I drew, which I had previously exported from Sketchbook as a PNG (this is achieved by hiding the layer of the drawing called “background”). ㅤ After pasting the watermelon, I simply duplicated it and rotated it in different directions, until it made a very nice sort of random design. To me, it feels like the watermelons are falling, and I'm not gonna lie to you, that makes me hungry hahaha. >Y lo que sigue aquí es lo que se me hace divertido. Simplemente, lo que hago es subir la imagen de la sandía que dibujé, la cual anteriormente había exportado de Sketchbook como PNG (esto se logra ocultando la capa del dibujo que se llama “fondo”)

>Luego de pegar la sandía, simplemente me dediqué a duplicarla y rotarla en diferentes direcciones, hasta que hiciera una especie de diseño aleatorio muy lindo. This idea came up because I also made a background like this before, with little flowers (which is the one I have as background in my profile), but I wasn't sure it would look good if I tried the same thing with something else. Especially if I’m making it for the background of a drawing. Here I show you my flowers because I am very proud of them.
