Not Only Powerful But Also Fast Combination

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
It's been over a month now since Conclave Arcana goes live, bringing us to the 3.0 version of the modern ranked battles. It revitalizes the format with the battle's focus on quick matches that resolve within under 10 rounds using powerful combinations and huge damage output, reflective of its game genre as an auto-battler. It also brings back the game's strategy aspect, as we can see more team variations in the top battles, unlike before, where it only focused on a few elements. It makes playing in modern more fun than ever.
For this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I want to share with you a team pairing that not just has a #PowerfulCombos but also very fast, combining both death and water units.
Water+Death Combo= Power + Speed
The focus of this team was not just on having powerful attack damage, but also superior speed. That way, I can be the first to inflict damage on my opponent cards, possibly even retire some of their cards and has higher chance to evade opponent attacks. And for that, I used the following cards.
Archon: Cryptic
Cryptic is a Rebellion Archon that can summon both Water and Death units and has the global ability to reduce the speed of all opponent units by 1, as well as Blind, which gives 15% miss chance on all opponent attacks. It also has the ability to give either Retaliate and Enfeeble ability or Poison and Expose ability on up to two units during the Tactics stage. However, for the battle that I will show you, I will be giving my units the Poison and Expose abilities in order to remove my opponent's abilities and so that they can lose health due to poison damage.
Main Tank: Commander Slade
For my tank, I used the Rebellion soulbound card Commander Slade, which excels both on speed and damage while also providing good protection with its huge health and armor. It also has an amazing lineup of abilities by having Dodge, which gives 25% evasion chance, and Backfire that will inflict 2 damage when the opponent misses. Other than that, it has Enfeeble to reduce melee damage of the opponent by 1 for each successful attack and Deflect that makes it immune to Blast and Thorns damage.
Damage Dealer: Venka the Vile
Despite being a melee card, I can place Venka the Vile anywhere within my lineup as it has the Charge ability that allows it to attack in any position and attack with its 7 damage that can be double when attacking non-damage unit since it has Oppress, while Pierce lets it inflict the extra damage from the armor to the opponents health. And if it were able to defeat the opponent, it can attack again with its Trample ability.
Supporting Cards

To further increase the speed of my team, I also used Silverlea Warlock, Daarg Deadblast and Endura Brune which has the Swiftness ability, increasing each of my units speed by 3 as well as Meriput Slinger that will reduce the speed of the opponent by 1.
Battle Showcase
Now that I have shown the necessary cards to make this combo, I will now share with you a battle to show how this combo in action.
This battle has 56 mana cap with Weak Magic, Heavy Hitters and Stamped for the ruleset. This makes my magic team very much function like melee and range while my opponent uses and Earth team with Eternal Tofu as its Archon so my Venka the Vile will inevitably received damage just by attacking but since I have Daarg Deadblast, I can sustain the damage it receive to some extent with Triage. On the other hand, Commander Slade will be unaffected of Thorns but with Mantaroth, it is also guaranteed to receive some damage. That said, with how fast my team was, I was able to retire their Croire in round 1 and remove the Divine Shield on Mantaroth and Venka.
During Round 2, my team was also able to retire Mantaroth with all my units still alive as Commander Slade was able to evade all of the non magic damage thrown on it.
With Round 3, aside from Venka the Vile the rest of my cards managed to survived and by Commander Slade just dodging the attacks from the opponent, it inflicts 3 damage to them .
And with round 4, the battle finally ends, with my main tank still standing. It is such a quick battle that fully showcases that speed is still the king.
Closing
Instead of focusing only on power, I also considered the speed of this lineup, but like what I said before, modern is now more balanced, and even this power and speed-focused team is not spammable and has its counters and maybe by reading this post, you can find a team that can potentially counter my lineup in case that we face against each other in battle.
Thank you and see you on the next post!
